Art + Water will feature gallery spaces intentionally designed as radically welcoming environments where San Francisco’s visual artists can reliably find a home to share their work, and everyone can enjoy it.
In late Fall 2026, we will launch exhibitions by our mentor artists in our gallery spaces. For emerging artists, the gallery will also function as a workforce development platform, offering hands-on opportunities in curation, art installation, exhibition promotion, and gallery management.
In 2027, we will expand to include another gallery space, enabling Art + Water to serve a broader ecosystem of local arts organizations including small galleries that have been priced out of San Francisco, nomadic and nontraditional nonprofits, and cultural organizations that could benefit from an exhibition on the waterfront.
Built with moveable walls, the gallery spaces can expand, contract, or combine to meet the needs of artists and partner organizations. Visitors will encounter a dynamic and ever-evolving experience each time they return to Pier 29.
